The Delta Queen will dock from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cape Girardeau. Spectators will not be able to board, but the view from Riverfront Park will provide an understanding of a working riverboat, from the paddle wheel to the smoke stacks. Festivities for Libertyfest July 4 include historical Glenn House tours from 5 to 7 p.m. at 325 S. Spanish St.; Red House Interpretive Center tours from 6 to 8 p.m. at 128 S. Main St.; Evening Optimists Kids Zone from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Themis Street flood gate area (face painters, games and more); Dan Weithop from 6:30 to 7 p.m. at Spanish and Themis streets; strolling Dixieland Band from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the riverfront; Hand Picked from 7 to 7:30 p.m. at Spanish and Themis streets; Mike Renick Band from 7:30 to 8 p.m. at Spanish and Themis streets; strolling fiddler Steve Schaffner from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the Riverfront; Municipal Band from 8 to 9 p.m. at Spanish and Themis streets; presentation of colors by Marine Corps League, Southeast Missourian Spirit of America Award, comments by local officials, and national anthem sung by Lindsay Stroh, from 9 to 9:30 p.m., all at Spanish and Themis streets; fireworks at 9:30 p.m. on the Mississippi River. Tune in to 102.9 FM, 93.9 FM, 99.3 FM, 1220 AM and 960 AM for synchronized, patriotic music that plays during the display.
The Jackson Fourth of July celebration, recognized as Jackson's birthday, features a car show, food vendors, pony rides, children's activities, "Art in the Park" and local entertainment at the Jackson City Park. Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m. following the 8 p.m. municipal band concert.
