Municipal Band joined by Coyote Creek today

The Jackson Municipal Band will present its weekly concert today at 8 p.m. at the band shell, located on Route D, at Jackson City Park. Special guests include the blue grass band Coyote Creek. The band's portion of the concert will feature the clarinet section led by Paul Fliege. Those planning to attend should bring lawn chairs or blankets.

Hawaii Day Camp taking place today

From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today children 6 to 13 can participate in Day Camp Luau at Southeast Missouri Hospital's Main Street Fitness Center, 410 W. Main St., Jackson. Kids will enjoy Hawaiian games, tropical food and crafts. There is a fee. For more information, call 243-2211.

Benefit auction, barbeque planned at local church

A benefit for a Cape Girardeau resident in need of medical care will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday. A meal and baked goods will be sold in the kitchen of The Church of God, 209 E. Cape Rock Drive, Cape Girardeau. An auction will begin at 6 p.m. Individuals who would like to donate items or services may call Dean or Karen at 334-6363.

Sikeston church offers blessing of animals

SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Wesley United Methodist Church will hold "a blessing of the animals" at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church on the corner of Pine Street and Ables Road. All animals need to be leashed or in a pet carrier. For more information, call 471-0384.

From 9 a.m. to noon Monday and June 24 a special pee wee day camp for ages 2 to 5 will be held at Southeast Missouri Hospital's Main Street Fitness Center under the direction of certified children's fitness specialist Millie Aufdenberg.
