The Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Old Lorimier Cemetery, 500 N. Fountain St. Dr. Frank Nickell, director of the Center for Regional History at Southeast Missouri State University, will speak on the history of Old Lorimier Cemetery and the early settlers of Cape Girardeau buried there. The First Assembly of God Church invites the community to enjoy a free hot dog from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday on Main Street in Scott City, at the front of Bob's foodliner. This is a thank-you for all the fund-raising work that community and church members do year round. No donations will be accepted.

There will be a bunco, euchre and raffle benefit to help with the medical expenses of Laura Glaus, a liver transplant recipient. Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7 p.m. June 2 at the St. Augustine Gym in Kelso. Glaus has required an extended stay at Barnes-Jewish Hospital's intensive care unit. All proceeds from this event will assist in covering expenses acquired during this time. Snacks will be provided. Coolers are allowed. Reservations are preferred. The Humane Society of Southeast Missouri will hold a summer program, Kids for Animals, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays, June 12 to July 10. The program is open to children from 10 to 13 years old. Sessions will be at various locations in Cape Girardeau. Transportation will not be provided. The cost of the program will include a T-shirt and all needed materials.
