Southeast facilities management sets auction
Facilities management employees at Southeast Missouri State University will hold a silent auction for a marble-topped hand-crafted antique pine buffet from through April 19. The public may view the buffet at the Facilities Management Service Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 610 Washington St. Proceeds will benefit a local charity. Salvation Army Men's Club planning auction
Lots of gift certificates, fishing equipment, Cardinals tickets, dinners and sports memorabilia will be auctioned at 6:30 p.m. April 16 to benefit programs of The Salvation Army. Call 335-7000 for information. The Salvation Army is located at 701 Good Hope in Cape Girardeau.
Quilt of Dreams 2004 campaign underway
The 2004 Quilt of Dreams promotion, held through July 17, is a promotion to provide quilts for St. Jude's patients and as a fund raising opportunity to benefit research at the hospital. The designs are inspired by artwork drawn by children receiving treatment at the hospital. Hancock Fabrics has designed 37 one-of-a-kind fabric patterns and will make a donation from the sale of each yard of fabric. Quilters may enter finished quilts in the Quilt of Dreams contest at Hancock Fabrics for judging; quilts will also be accepted for donation only. Donated quilts will be displayed Sept. 11 to 14 at BancorpSouth Center in Tupelo, Miss. For more information visit www.quiltofdreams.com.--From wire reports
Whitewater Masonic Lodge lays cornerstone
The public is welcome to a cornerstone laying ceremony at 2 p.m. April 17 at the Whitewater Masonic Lodge No. 417. The membership is very proud of this achievement after having built a new lodge in October 2003, following a fire in 2002. State officers from the Grand Lodge of Missouri will officiate.
Magazine subscriptions donated to library
Two-year subscriptions to Budget Living, Computer Games, Cosmo Girl, Country Living Gardener, Creative Woodworks & Crafts, Disney Adventures, ESPN, Home, Movie Line and Teen Vogue, a value at about $660, were donated by Jackson American Family Insurance agent Janey Foust to Riverside Regional Library, Jackson.
