The Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau is seeking residents interested in volunteering to lead guided tours of Cape Girardeau-area attractions and drive the tour bus. Training will be provided for these volunteer ambassadors. There will be a morning tour at 10 a.m. and afternoon tour at 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Delta school district is hosting a retirement tea in honor of Drenna Lee from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the high school cafeteria. Lee has been a teacher in the district for 31 years.

The fifth annual Vets & Friends Run to benefit the Missouri Veterans Home will be held Sunday at the home, 2400 Veterans Memorial Drive. The first hand of a poker run at L&D Patio, McClure, Ill., will begin at 9 a.m., and the last hand will be at 1:30 p.m. at the veterans home. Other events at the home include a "blessing of the bikes" at 1 p.m., an auction at 2 p.m. and a bike show judged by the veterans at 3 p.m. An item for auction or a donation is required for admission. The "Changed Lives: Lewis and Clark Meet the West" program, sponsored by Missouri Humanities Council in partnership with the library and the Center for Regional History in observance of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, will hold four different programs on Tuesdays in May. The programs at 2:30 p.m. on May 3, May 10 and May 24 will be held in the Hirsch Community Room. The May 17 program will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Red House in downtown Cape Girardeau. Attendees should bring folding chairs. Topics, approximately an hour long, include "Charles Everett Pace as York, William Clark's Slave and Corps Companion"; "Lewis and Clark 'Discover' the Indian Nations"; "Songs Lewis and Clark Might Have Sung"; and "William Clark, Interpreted".

Bike-A-Thon May 21 to benefit St. Jude's
A Wheels-For-Life Bike-A-Thon, sponsored by the staff of Dr. T. Wayne Lewis DDS, will begin at 1 p.m. May 21 at Jackson City Park at Safety City. Participants can walk or ride bicycles to help raise funds for St. Jude and its ongoing fight against childhood catastrophic diseases. Participants under age 18 must have a consent form signed by their parent or guardian. Routes will be set according to age and ability for all ages.
