MRSA presentation held at resource center
A presentation on methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus including information on good hygiene practices will be at 2:15 and 2:45 p.m. today at the Cape Area Family Resource Center, 1202 S. Sprigg St. in Cape Girardeau. The presentation is open to all individuals, and no appointment is necessary. This program will be provided by Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center. It is sponsored by the Community Caring Council and the Primary Care Coalition with funding provided by Missouri Foundation for Health. Weekend rummage sale will benefit LFCS
The Lutheran Family and Children's Service Southeast Missouri Ladies Auxiliary will hold a rummage sale from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday, and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Andrew Lutheran Church Activity Center. To volunteer for setting up, cleaning up or working at the sale call 334-5866. Living history event set for Saturday
Twenty-seven Civil War enactors of The Turner Brigade and friends from the Civil War Roundtable of Cape Girardeau will be at Fort D from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The old fort, which once protected the Cape Girardeau from attack, will be the site of Civil War camp life with infantry drill, rifle and artillery firing. Admission is free. Cape Eagles to hold benefit weekend in May
A benefit event will be held at 5:30 p.m. May 2, 4 to 9 p.m. May 3 and from 1 p.m. to an undetermined time May 4 at the Cape Girardeau Eagles, 321 N. Spring Ave. in Cape Girardeau. Meals of kettle beef, catfish and chicken, chili and hot dogs will be available; darts, redneck golf, shuffleboard, washers, an auction, pool tournament, Texas hold 'em and a redneck triathlon are the activities. Humane Society to hold yard sale May 2 and 3

Bikers' annual poker run set for May 4
The eighth annual Bikers Helping Veterans poker run begins at 9 a.m. May 4 at L&D Patio, McClure, Ill. Blessing of the bikes will be at 12:30 p.m., an auction by Jones Auction Service will be at 1 p.m., and a bike and antique car and tractor show will be at 2 p.m. The run ends at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. St. Jude Saddle Up event scheduled for May 10
A Saddle Up event will begin with 8 a.m. registration May 10 at the Danny Besand Farm in Daisy. The ride starts at 10 a.m. and will return to the farm between 1 and 4 p.m. Lunch will be at Sargent's Chapel from noon to 1 p.m. A live band will play from 4 to 8 p.m., and dinner will be at 5 p.m. A live auction will be held at 6 p.m., and the dance will be from 9 p.m. to midnight.
