Garden club holding plant sale Saturday

The Sunny Village Garden Club will hold a plant sale at 9 a.m. Saturday outside the Dollar General Store on Main Street in Scott City.

MS walk to be held in Capaha Park

Walk MS will begin with registration at noon Sunday followed by a five-minute warm-up and walking at 1 p.m. at Capaha Park. Besides the two-mile, noncompetitive walk, participants may enjoy food, ice cream, a Children's Village, Wellness Village, a cake walk and music. Volunteers needed for Jackson Parks Day

Volunteers interested in helping with trash removal, the continuation of limb removal, planting flowers and Arbor Day recognition should meet at 8 a.m. April 26 at Jackson City Park shelter No. 1. Tasks will delegated at that time. Volunteers will meet at 11 a.m. at the shelter for lunch.

Woodmen sponsoring volunteer day May 3

At 10 a.m. May 3, volunteers in Jackson will participate in a national day of service sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America and fraternal benefit societies. The project is to clean the area around the Jackson Senior Center and supply benches outside. The group will also give residents gifts and potted flower arrangements. ALS awareness walk to be held May 3

The ALS awareness walk will begin at 10 a.m. May 3 at Arena Park. Registration is at 9 a.m., but teams and individuals can also register at www.alsa-stl.org or by calling the ALS Association at 888-873-8539. There is no registration fee, and participants need not walk the entire route.

Hospice training scheduled next month

The Visiting Nurse Association of Southeast Missouri will offer hospice training from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 3 in Sikeston, Mo. A possible second day of this training will be determined by the group by the end of May 3. No one is required to become a VNA Hospice volunteer because they took the training. Anger management workshop scheduled

The University of Missouri Extension will hold an anger management program for parents called "Rethink" from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. May 5, 12, 19 and June 2. For information or to register, call 243-3581. Scholarships are available for participants on a first-come-first served basis. Registrations are due by April 30. In case of low enrollment, the class will be canceled.

Zion United Methodist holding flea market

Zion United Methodist Church, near Old Appleton, will hold a flea market from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 17 on church grounds. Church members invite individuals and groups to join them in selling crafts, plants, produce, products and other items The church is on Route KK between Interstate 55 (exit 117) and U.S. 61.
