Shirley Armstead, a special agent with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, will present "'Huffing' Can Kill Your Kids" on Monday on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. Huffing is the use of inhalants found in the home to get high. Teenagers especially use inhalants because they're cheap and easy to get. Armstead will speak at 6:30 p.m. in Dempster Hall room 1-05. The public is encouraged to learn more about huffing during National Inhalant and Poison Awareness Week, March 20 to 26.
After 54 years, the Cape Girardeau Dinner Club will hold a final meeting Monday at 7 p.m. The lecture at the Drury Lodge will feature author David Fiedl-er speaking on "The Enemy Among Us: POWs in Missouri During WWII." The Cape Girardeau Eagles Aerie and Auxiliary will hold a plant sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 1 and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 2 at The Cape Girardeau Eagles Aerie building, 321 N.
