Jackson students' artwork on display

In observance of youth art month, the Jackson School District art department is holding an exhibit of selected kindergarten to 12th-grade artwork at Westfield Shoppingtown West Park. The exhibit will end Sunday.

Travelers group holding meal, meeting

Cape Girardeau Post M of the Travelers Protective Association will hold an annual meeting at 6 p.m. on March 12 at the Cape Girardeau Elks Lodge, 639 Elks Lane. Consideration of changes that should be made in the post by-laws and election of new officers are on the agenda. A meal of chili, hot dogs and homemade dessert will be served at no cost to members. Complimentary beverages will also be available and members may bring a guest. Missouri division president John Land and secretary Gerald Goerger are expected to attend. Annual Easter egg hunt coming up at park

The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department has planned its 1th annual egg hunt on March 19. One- to 2-year-olds and 3- to 4-year-olds will meet at 10 a.m. in the parking lot near the Capaha Park Swimming Pool. Five- to 8-year-olds will start at the same location at 11 a.m. Groups have 30 to 45 minutes to hunt and the event will be held rain or shine. The Easter Bunny will also be on hand for photos. Prizes will be awarded after each hunt for special eggs. The hunt is free, but children must provide their own basket and parents should escort smaller children. For more information, call 335-5421. Candidate forum on calendar Wednesday

The League of Women Voters of Southeast Missouri and the Cape Girardeau School District will provide a candidate forum for the school board and the Cape Girardeau City Council at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the auditorium of the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center, 1080 S. Silver Springs Road. The public is encouraged to attend with questions for the candidates to discuss. For more information, call (573) 243-4716.

Support group beginning for sexual assault victims

Beginning March 28, a women's sexual assault support group will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday's at the SEMO-NASV office, located at 63 Doctors' Park, Suite C. Contact Brenda at 332-1900 to schedule an appointment before the group begins.

Applications being accepted for pageant

The 35th annual Missouri Teenager Scholarship Pageant is accepting applications for the junior and senior competition to be held June 3 to 4 in Columbia, Mo. The pageant will recognize women ages 12 to 18 for their community and school involvement, communication skills and academic achievement. The pageant organization features competitions for the title of Miss Missouri Junior National Teenager (ages 12 to 15) and Miss Missouri Senior Teenager (ages 16 to 18).
