Delta Sigma Theta plans Aids Walk/Run

The women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Omicron Pi Chapter, at Southeast Missouri State University will host their first annual Aids Walk/Run March 9.

Delta Sigma Theta sorority has selected the fight against HIV/AIDS as one of its national initiatives for the 2000-2002 biennium. Members are asking the community for donations and/or participation in the cause.

Registration for the walk is 8-8:45 a.m. The walk will start at 9 a.m. and proceed from Capaha Park Shelter 1 to Main Street.

Registration fees for the walk range from $5 to $10 depending on participants in a group. Additional information is available by calling 334-7497.

Kettle beef dinner slated at Millersville

Millersville Masonic Lodge 103 will host its annual kettle beef dinner Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the lodge. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children.

The lodge will meet tonight beginning with dinner at 6:45 p.m. All Masons are invited to attend.

Seminar will focus on feeding birds

What to serve backyard birds and where to serve it will be the topic for a Wild Bird Seminar Sunday at Sunny Hill Gardens and Florist, 206 N. Kingshighway.

Mel Toellner, who is in the business of building feeders, shelters and accessories for backyard wildlife, will be guest speaker. The program begins at 1 p.m.

Other program topics will include plants and shelters for wildlife.

Reservations are suggested, but not required. For additional information, call 335-5785. All those attending Sunday's program will receive a free packet of birding information.

Pachyderm Club to discuss redistricting

A panel discussion on redistricting in Missouri will be held when the Southeast Missouri Pachyderm Club meets at 6:30 p.m. today at the Holiday Inn.

State representatives of three districts which have been affected by new redistricting legislation will serve on the panel. They are Pat Naeger, R-Perryville, Rob Mayer, R-Dexter, and Jason Crowell, R-Cape Girardeau.

The public is invited to attend.

Chili and chicken soup dinner planned

An all-you-can-eat chili and chicken noodle soup supper will be held at the St. Lawrence Parish Center in New Hamburg from 4 to 7 p.m. March 9.

The supper is being sponsored by the Kelso C-7 seventh and eighth grade classes.

Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for children ages 6-12. Children under 5 eat free.

Carryouts will be available.

Remember these weekend activities

Doctors and lawyers will play a benefit basketball game at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Notre Dame Regional High School gym.

The Downtown Merchants Auction is at 6 p.m. Saturday at Knights of Columbus Hall, 318 S. Spanish.

The Cpl. Mason O. Yarbrough Detachment of the Marine Corps League social is at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3838, 1049 N. Kingshighway.
