Jackson Area Arts Council will meet tonight

The next arts council meeting is planned for 7 p.m. today in the community room located on the third floor of the Jackson library. The entrance faces Missouri Street. Go inside the double doors and take the elevator (located on the left) to the third floor. Everyone is welcome to attend. The discussion will include the Arts Council newsletter, Web link to the City of Jackson Web page, Star Catcher Theatre update, 2004 tourism grant funding and upcoming Missouri festivals. Free car seat check on tap for Saturday

Most parents don't realize it, but safety seat checks show that four out of five car seats are used incorrectly. In an effort to reduce motor vehicle-related injury the Cape Girardeau Area SAFE KIDS Coalition and Ford Groves have teamed up to offer a free Car Seat Check Up. The event will be held between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday at Ford Groves, 1501 N. Kingshighway, Cape Girardeau. Car seats will be inspected by trained technicians who can teach parents the correct way to install a child safety seat. For more information, contact the Area SAFE KIDS Coalition at 651-5815.

Organization seminar planned for Tuesday

A "Get Organized!" seminar with Deniece Schofield will be held from 10 a.m. to noon and from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau. There is a cost. For information, call (800) 835-TIME. Schofield is the author of "Confessions of an Organized Homemaker" and has been a spokesperson for Procter & Gamble and a contributor to "Woman's Day" magazine.

Poetry Coffee House skit, "The Trial of Poetry," by Herb Taylor, Arthur Wilhite and Max Cordonnier followed by favorite poems from participants, 7 p.m. March 15.

A discussion of "Rush Hudson Limbaugh and His Times: Reflections on a Life Well Lived" by its author Dr. George G. Suggs Jr., 7 p.m. March 23.

The Jackson branch of Riverside Regional Library has planned the following storytime topics for preschoolers in March:

"St. Patrick's Day" will be featured at preschool storytime at 9:30 a.m. March 16.

"Hats, Hats, Hats!" will be featured at preschool storytime at 9:30 a.m. March 23.
