Pair of presentations to focus on autism

A presentation, "Living and Learning with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome," will be from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Glenn Auditorium in Dempster Hall on the Southeast Missouri State University campus. A second workshop from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, "Parents and Families: Living and Learning with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome," will be held at Glenn Auditorium as well. The presentations are by Taylor Crowe, who was diagnosed with severe autism as a preschooler and recently graduated from the California Institute of the Art; his father, David Crowe; and Jana Rodgers, an educator. Spiritual workshops to be held at book store

A series of spiritual workshops will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Broadway Books & Roasting Company at 605 Broadway in Cape Girardeau. Saturday's featured program is "Spiritual Wisdom on Health & Healing." Another program Feb. 23 will feature "Spiritual Wisdom on Relationships." The program is presented by the Missouri Satsang Society, a chartered affiliate of Eckankar. For more information, call 204-7639.

Civil War Roundtable to meet at church

The Cape Civil War Roundtable will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hanover Lutheran Church, 2949 Perryville Road in Cape Girardeau. The speaker will be Southeast Missouri State University history professor Frank Nickell, who will speak on "Treating the Sick and Treating the Wounded: Medicine and Medicines in the Civil War." There will also be a book raffle and silent auction of Tom Ward's original artwork.

Program on GPS to be held at Nature Center

The program "Basics of GPS" will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Nature Center. Attendees will be taught the basics of using the global positioning system with the help of Dru Reeves, who has received extensive training in land navigation from the U.S. Army Reserves. A GPS unit will be provided for those who don't bring your own. The program is for ages 12 and older. To register, call 290-5218.

Alzheimer's Association to hold trivia night

A SEMO trivia night will be held to benefit the Alzheimer's Association at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at the VFW Post 3838, 1409 N. Kings-highway in Cape Girardeau. Registration will begin at 6 p.m. Admission price includes a chili supper, snacks, soft drinks and Anheuser-Busch products.
