A "Thanks Breakfast" for supporters and donors of the Boys and Girls Club of Cape Girardeau was recently held at its new 1913 Whitener St. location. Four club members gave speeches on their reasons for membership. A special memorial award in honor of Joe Carter was given to the Rev. Paul Kabo and First Presbyterian Church of Cape Girardeau for their years of support. A dinner is being held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Delta Community Center to benefit Scott "Lumpy" Henson and help pay his medical expenses. A silent auction will follow at 8 p.m. War Child Motorcycle Club and the Delta Fire Department are sponsoring the event. Pork steaks, slaw, potato salad, baked beans and drinks will be served. Carryouts will be available, along with raffle tickets for liquor, a quilt, trailer, flooring, tires, wheels and a 50/50 drawing. Auction items are still being accepted. Conservation agent Darin Pettit will answer questions about issues concerning landowners in reference to trespassing, boundary marking and court proceedings from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center, North Cape Girardeau County Park off Kingshighway. Learn about regulations in place to qualify for landowner hunting and fishing permits. The workshop is for people ages 12 and older. Call 290-5218 for registration.

The Scott City Women's Club will hold its annual home Christmas tour from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. David and Rhonda Ratledge, Debbie Miller, Lois Lane, Matt and Amy Venable, and Chelsey, Jon and Janel Wilburn will open their homes to the public. Tickets can be purchased at Three Gayle's, 1326 Main St., or at any home on the day of the tour.
The Nature Center will provide grapevine wreaths for participants to use as a base for their own creative holiday wreath, swag or garland at an upcoming demonstration from 12:30 to 2:30 or 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center, North Cape Girardeau County Park off Kingshighway. Attendees should bring gloves and tools. Some tools will be available. The event is for ages 18 and older, and registration is required.
The Modern Woodmen of America Youth Service Club will hold its first activity at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Southeast Missouri American Red Cross, 2430 Myra Drive, Cape Girardeau. The activity is open to children ages 12 to 16. For more information, call Jim Stafford at 751-0030.
