Scott County genealogy group meets Tuesday

The Scott County Historical and Genealogy Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Scott County Courthouse in Benton, Mo. Society member Margaret Cline Harmon of Cape Girardeau will speak on her internship at the State Archives in Jefferson City. Harmon is also a historic preservation major at Southeast Missouri State University. Other topics on the agenda include the Friend Family Collection within the archives. Meetings are open to all interested individuals.

St. Louis neurologist to speak on MS

St. Louis neurologist Dr. Becky Parks, a St. Louis neurologist, will address people affected by multiple sclerosis at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Drury Lodge. Parks has focused her practice solely on MS since 2002 and is currently actively involved in a number of multiple sclerosis clinical trials. For registration call (866) 955-9999. Book sale on tap Saturday in Jackson

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, a book sale sponsored by Friends of the Library will be held at Riverside Regional Library in Jackson. For more information, call 243-8141.

Boys and Girls Club plans fishing clinic

A family fishing clinic, sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club of Cape Girardeau, will be held at Cape Count Park shelter 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. There will be prizes, family games and lunch is provided. Fishing poles will be provided while they last. Participants should bring their own bait. Call 335-7141 for more information.
