US Bank supports New Vision Youth
Matt Henson, president of US Bank in Cape Girardeau, recently presented a $500 check to Tim Gould, president of New Vision Youth and Family Services Inc. New Vision was founded in 1998. Since then it has provided mental health services to at least 6,500 individuals in Southeast Missouri. Mental health services include in-home therapy, individual, family and group therapy, psychiatric services, and psychological testing and assessments. The mission of the agency is to unconditionally provide mental health services to individuals and families regardless of their ability to pay.
Time to stock up on Girl Scout cookies
Girl Scout cookies will be on sale Jan. 14 through 31. The eight varieties available are iced berry pinatas, peanut butter patties, caramel delites, shortbread, thin mints, peanut butter sandwiches, reduced-fat lemon pastry cremes and animal treasures. Delivery will be from March 7 through 18. For more information, call 334-7741.
Jackson foundation to hold Winter Showcase
The Jackson School District Foundation is holding a Winter Showcase beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday at Jackson Junior High School. The showcase will feature 22 Jackson visual and performing arts student groups and clubs. Performances begin at 5:30 p.m. Chili and hot dogs will be provided, and there is no charge for admission.
Volunteer training on Missouri tax credit forms
Volunteers interested in training to assist seniors in completing Missouri property tax credit forms may attend a workshop at 10 a.m. Jan. 18 at First Christian Church, 2411 Abbey Road, Cape Girardeau. The two-hour workshop is conducted by The Southeast Missouri Area Agency on Aging in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Revenue. Caring Council meeting to feature guest speaker
The next Community Caring Council meeting will be at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 21 at SADI (SEMO Alliance for Disability Independence), 121 S. Broadview, Cape Girardeau. This month's guest speaker will be Mark Bartlett, the community support consultant for Healthy Communities and Schools Unit through the state of Missouri.
Explore past lives at Perryville workshop
A workshop on "Past Lives, Dreams and Soul Travel" is scheduled for 1 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Perryville Regional Library. For more information call (573) 547-6508.
Zonta Club of Cape holds trivia night fund raiser
The Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau Area will hold a trivia night beginning at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at Grace United Methodist Church at Broadway and Caruthers Street in Cape Girardeau. Games begin promptly at 7 p.m. Teams are in tables of eight; Individual players will be placed at a table. Soft drinks will be provided for the players along with light snacks. Teams are also invited to bring their own snacks. A fee applies to individuals and teams. Prizes awarded for first, second and last place. There will be attendance prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Eighth annual trivia night held in Scott City
The St. Joseph Home and School Association will hold its eighth annual trivia night at 6 p.m. Jan. 29 at the St. Joseph Parish Center in Scott City. There is an admission fee per player with eight players per team. Snacks and soft drinks will be provided. There will be door prizes and cash awards to the winning teams.
