Valentine dinner at Kelly Elementary school

Project Graduation 2003 is sponsoring a dinner for the entire family in the Kelly Elementary cafeteria from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 14.

The meal of pork steak or hamburger, baked potato, baked beans, slaw, dessert and drink will be catered by Ziegler's. Decorated Valentine cookies and flowers will also be for sale. Tickets are available from Kelly seniors or at the door. The Kelly Hawks will take on East Prairie at 6:30 p.m.

American Cancer Society gala event set for April

The American Cancer Society is holding its gala event "Puttin on the Ritz" at the Osage Community Centre on April 5.

Cocktails provided by Port Cape will be served at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. provided by Celebrations Restaurant and Bar of Cape Girardeau. After dinner, the Benders will provide music for dancing. They take requests and play a wide variety of musical styles.

Along with the chance to win one-of-a-kind items in the silent auction, a first-time live auction will also be held.

Tickets reserved before Feb. 28 will receive a discount. All proceeds will be used to help cancer patients and fund research. Call the American Cancer Society Office at 334-9197 to reserve tickets.

Doors open at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 at Bavarian Halle in Fruitland for the St. Mary Cathedral School's Polynesian Treasurers Dinner Auction. A steak/chicken dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Reserved tickets are now on sale for $15. For more information call the school office at 335-3840.

Patton Lions Club annual breakfast set for Feb. 23

Pancakes, sausage, eggs, maple syrup, butter, orange juice and coffee will be served by the Patton Lions Club at the Patton Saddle Club, located at Highway 51, 1 1/4 miles north of Patton junction at Highways 51 and 72.

Women's Club will hold 'Sew and Tell' luncheon

Held at the Holiday Inn in Cape Girardeau at noon on Monday, the Cape Girardeau County Christian Women's Club will hold a luncheon following the theme "Sew and Tell."

The Sewing Basket will present its new feature "Sew Beautiful," music will be provided by Jewel Seabaugh (Sew Tunes) and the speaker will be Verilyn Hauss, on "Sewing the Pattern."

The Christian Women's Club is an inter-denominational organization of ladies with 2300 chapters in the United States and Canada, plus 85 chapters overseas. For more information contact Macke or Nancy Barnett at (573) 866-3271.

Fish and chicken supper for community building

A fish and chicken supper will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 at the Bell City Community Building. The menu will also include hush puppies, slaw, potato salad, beans, dessert and drink. The cost for adults is $7; ages 6 to 12, $3.50, and under 6 free. Proceeds will help pay for the community building.
