Salvation Army plans Thanksgiving dinner
Keeping a tradition for more than 14 years, the Salvation Army is accepting donations of turkeys and other items to complete its annual Thanksgiving dinner at 701 Good Hope St., Cape Girardeau.
The meal is served from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 27. Everyone is invited.
The Salvation Army aims to collect 60 turkeys, averaging at 15 pounds, to feed more than 600 people this Thanksgiving holiday. It is advisable to donate early. Cooking and preparation of the turkeys takes place before the holiday and the meat is frozen until Thanksgiving when volunteers arrive to prepare meals served at the Salvation Army and deliver to shut-ins.
Community groups and individuals also donate pies and other food items to help complete the meal. Call 335-7000 for additional information or delivery.-- From staff reports
