Marine Corps League to hold fund-raising dinner

The Cpl. Mason O. Yarbrough Detachment of the Marine Corps League will hold a fund-raising dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the VFW Post 3838, 1049 Kingshighway, Cape Girardeau.

A buffet includes two meats, potatoes and gravy, two vegetables, rolls, soft drinks and dessert.

Proceeds will benefit the charitable activities of the League including Toys for Tots, which provides Christmas gifts to underprivileged children, as well as Americanism, Patriot programs and the Stars & Stripes Museum in Bloomfield Mo.

Last year alone, the national Toys for Tots program provided more than 12 million new toys to over 5.7 million children. The Mason O. Yarbrough Detachment, which is 2 years old, has given 538 toys to families in need in Cape, Scott and Bollinger counties.
