COMMUNITY CENTER GROUP MEETS TONIGHT

JACKSON -- The Multipurpose Building Feasibility Study Committee will meet for the first time tonight.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the committee room at City Hall and is open to the public.

Last week, a group of 58 volunteers recommended by Mayor Paul Sander was appointed by the Board of Aldermen to serve on the committee.

The first order of business for the group will be to elect a chairman, vice chairman and secretary.

The committee will also establish at least four subcommittees, which will study site location, project financing, building design and function of the facility.

The committee is charged with determining whether a multipurpose building is needed in Jackson and if such a facility is affordable.

If the committee decides to proceed with the project, it will outline specific plans for construction and financing for the facility.
