Genealogical society to meet Tuesday in Jackson
The Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Riverside Regional Library in Jackson. The program, presented by Scott House, is "Fort D and Its Role in the History of Cape Girardeau." The society meets bimonthly on the fourth Tuesday. Nonmembers are welcome at all meetings. Alumni of the old Fruitland School are invited to attend a reunion at 11 a.m. Saturday at DelMonico's restaurant in Jackson. Graduates of the high school or anyone who attended grade school there are urged to attend.
Descendants of Michael and Johanna (Kemp) Brucker Sr. are invited to a reunion at noon Oct. 1 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Oran. Bring old photos, a covered dish and stories to share. There will be some genealogy on the Bruckers and their children.
A check on behalf of the Scott County Women in Agriculture was recently given to Joel Evans, Scott County developer, for the renovation of the Scott County War Memorial in Benton, Mo.
