Cape County AARP chapter meets today

The Cape Girardeau County chapter of AARP will meet at 1:30 p.m. today at Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. The program, presented by Bollinger County librarian and historian Eva Dunn, will be "Bollinger County Museum Artifacts and History." There will be a door prize.

Genealogical society meeting Tuesday

The Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cape Girardeau County Archive Center in Jackson. Bill Eddleman will share a brief program on resources in the society's library, and then time for members to conduct genealogy research. The society meets bimonthly. Nonmembers are welcome at all meetings. For more information, call Bill Eddleman at 335-1507.

Nature Center offering photography program

The Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center will offer "Nature's Snapshots" from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at an outdoor photography program for 12- to 17-year-olds. Nature Center volunteer Charlie Wilson will share his passion for photography and introduce participants to the basics of nature photography. Participants may bring a camera. Museum program to discuss Mosley memoir

Steve and Viney Mosley will present a program, "Stories from the Porch Swing: What is 'And God Answered: A Memoir by Jean Bell Mosley' really about?" at the Cape River Heritage Museum at 10 a.m. Saturday. The program is about what motivated Mosley to write, where she received inspiration from and other facts. The event is for ages 12 and older, creative writing and journalism students.

Clothing donations taken through Aug. 11

A collection trailer for used clothing will be available from Aug. 1 to 11 at the Jackson Elks Lodge. Donations of clothing, linens, shoes, purses, handbags, backpacks and toys less than 12 inches long will help people in Third World countries and help Boy Scout Troop 210 raise funds for a larger trailer. For more information, call Brenda at 243-7367. No books, puzzles, board games or multipiece items will be accepted.

Farrow family reunion to be held Aug. 17

The Farrow family reunion begins at 10 a.m. Aug. 17 at Cape County Park North Pavilion No. 8. There will be signs. A basket dinner will begin at noon. For more information, call Linda Barber at 573-824-5504.
