Reunion to start Sunday with potluck lunch
The annual Criddle, Stroder, Davenport and Moore family reunion will begin with a potluck luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Jackson Knights of Columbus Hall. Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring old photos. For more information, call 243-8880.
Bus trip to see 'Fiddler on the Roof' planned
The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department has a chartered bus trip planned to see "Fiddler on the Roof" at the Muny in St. Louis. The bus will depart at 5 p.m. Aug. 5 from the Osage Community Centre. Concessions will be available at the Muny, or attendees can bring a small cooler. No glass containers are allowed. Poker run to help cover autism treatment
A benefit poker run to help pay for Gavin McFall's autism treatment and therapy will start with sign-ups at 10 a.m. Aug. 10 at the Bayou Bar and Grill in Jackson. The last bike will be out at noon, and the event will end at the Bayou Bar and Grill with the last bike in at 4 p.m. The event will feature live music by Jimmy Lee Band, cash prizes for best and worst hand and a 50/50 drawing. It will also include a silent auction, which ends at 6 p.m.
Health fair to be held at Jackson Senior Center
A Diabetic Health and Foot Fair will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Aug. 14 at the Jackson Senior Center, 2690 Travelers Way in Jackson. It will be sponsored by John's Pharmacy of Cape Girardeau and is free and open to the public. Free product samples will be offered. For more information, call 334-1300.
Reunion planned for Scott City-area students
KELSO, Mo. -- A reunion of the graduating classes of 1935 to 1973 from Illmo, Fornfelt, Ancell and Scott City will be held Sept. 12 and 13 at the Kelso Knights of Columbus Hall. All former students of any year may attend. Registration is from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 12, and a cocktail hour will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Tours will available Sept. 13. Adoption training to be held in September
An infant adoption training initiative by Spaulding for Children will be held twice, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 17 and from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at Lutheran Family and Children's Services, 3178 Blattner Drive in Cape Girardeau. Both training sessions provide lunch. The training will include a handbook, a referral and resource guide, four contact hours for nurses and four continuing education hours for social workers. Humane Society offers many ways to donate
The Humane Society of Southeast Missouri has put in place several additional ways to donate to the organization. Profits from recycling aluminum cans at Sides Recycling, 80 N. Broadview St. in Cape Girardeau, can be forwarded to the organization upon request. The Humane Society also has partnered with Goodsearch, a search engine at www.goodsearch.com that will donate to an organization selected before a search is run. Shopping the online store at www.semopets.org/shop.html will also benefit the organization through agreements with the vendors on the Web site. A percentage of each purchase goes to the organization.
