Scott County historical, genealogy society to meet
The Scott County Historical and Genealogy Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Scott County Courthouse in Benton.
Diebold's sponsoring second annual herbfest
An herbal recipe sampling event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Diebold Orchards. Guest speaker and herb grower Kristy Friedrick will answer questions, and longtime herbalists Don and Carol Koehler will speak on cooking with herbs.
Old Town Cape planning dinner cruise on river
Old Town Cape, dedicated to the revitalization of Cape Girardeau's historic commercial districts and neighborhoods, will be the beneficiary of a fund-raising event starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Royal N'Orleans restaurant. A four-course dinner served with the appropriate wine will be followed by a two-hour twilight cruise down the Mississippi River on the Grampa Woo luxury yacht. Dessert will be served on the ship. Entertainment will be provided by Bruce Zimmerman and Don Greenwood while on board. For more information, call the Old Town Cape office at 334-8085.
State representative visiting Caring Council
The next Community Caring Council meeting will be at 7:30 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. The guest speaker will be state Rep. Jason Crowell, R-Cape Girardeau.
