Area AARP chapter offers program at meeting

The Cape Girardeau County AARP Chapter 4041 will meet at 1:30 p.m. today at Grace United Methodist Church, corner of Broadway and Caruthers Ave. Director Tina Dohogne will present a program on the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. There will be a drawing for a door prize.

Women in Agriculture meet Thursday in Benton

The Scott County Women in Agriculture will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the USDA office on Highway 77 in Benton, Mo. Plans will be finalized for the annual Farm Day to be held the end of April. Cape Alternative Farmers Market to open

The Cape Alternative Farmers Market begins the new market season at 8 a.m. April 26 in the lot just north of the Red House Interpretive Center in downtown Cape Girardeau. The market will be open every Wednesday morning. The market will also be open at 2 p.m. May 7, in conjunction with the Red House Interpretive Center's Central High Fiddle Team spotlight. Items for sale include Missouri-grown strawberries; farm-raised and pastured chicken, eggs and pork; and breads, cake and pies. Contact the market director at 334-0287 for more information.

Caring Council holds annual breakfast

Train Club to hold model railroad show April 23

The Old Town Cape's annual auction in honor of Charles Hutson begins with a silent auction at 7 p.m., followed by an auction at 8 p.m. April 29 in the Riverview Room of the Buckner Brewing Co.
