Music gold cup winners announced recently
Keyboards and Kindermusik Conservatory recently announced the 2007 Gold Cup recipients in the National Music Federation of Music Clubs contest. Winners of the first gold cup, which requires at least three years' participation, were Abby Breite, Megan Gates, Jenna Greene, Elizabeth Keene, William Keene, Claire Landewee, Reed Thomas, Landon Thomsen, Logan Thomsen, Bricela Trejo, Evan Unterreiner, Suzannah Weber and Ashlee Younghouse. Winners of the second gold cup, which requires at least 6 years' participation, were Anna Unterreiner and Andrea Younghouse. The third gold cup winner, with at least 9 years' of participation, is Veda Riley. Gold cup winners and students from Keyboards and Kindermusik Conservatory will play in the May 20 spring recital at First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. Kenny Rogers Children's Center surpasses goal
The recent Kenny Rogers Children's Center telethon raised $20,600 more than its $300,000 goal. Telethon winners included "Telethon Idol" Stacey Holman of Bertrand, junior idol Jessie Ritter of Cape Girardeau and Cott beverage baseball ticket raffle winner Lori Dobbs of Jackson. AARP meets today for history program
The Cape Girardeau County Chapter of AARP 4041 meets at 1:30 p.m. today at Grace United Methodist Church, Broadway and Caruthers Avenue, for a program on historic preservation. Steven Hoffman, coordinator of preservation at Southeast Missouri State University, will present a program on the city of Cape Girardeau. There will be a drawing for a door prize.
Notre Dame ticket sales benefit education
The Notre Dame Cardinal Raffle sold more than $33,000 in tickets for the NDHS Education Fund Foundation established in 1980 to ensure financial stability for Notre Dame Regional High School. The contributions received from the Cardinal Raffle are endowed and invested with earnings on investments transferred to the school annually. Since the first stipend in 1983, the total foundation return to the school has come to more than $1.6 million benefiting every child. Grand prize winners were Cindy and Gary McCormick of Cape Girardeau; Memphis Redbirds prize-package winner was Marilyn Nenninger; opening day game winner was Kim Hope; Cubs game winner was Celeste Nenninger; four game winner was Barry Hovis; Houston game winner was George Craigmiles; two game winner was Haley Bohnert; and weekend game winners were Brother David, Kay Glueck and Laura Blattner, all of Cape Girardeau.
Charleston class of 1987 plans reunion
Alumni from the Charleston High School Class of 1987 are invited to the 20th reunion at 7 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Wheelhouse Bar and Grill in Charleston, Mo. Information will be sent out soon. Planners are seeking addresses or information about the 115 class members.
