Cairo's Riverlore mansion tour season begins
Riverlore Mansion, 2723 Washington Ave., Cairo, Ill., is now open for tours from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Tours are given by volunteers and funding for maintenance of the home is made possible by the Cairo Public Library Board of Trustees, who hold fund-raising events throughout the year. The Sikeston Lions Club is selling Boston butts and ribs with proceeds to support area needs. To place an order, call Ted Martin at (573) 472-0988, or buy a ticket from any Sikeston Lions Club member. Orders can be picked up from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Veteran's Park across from Taco Bell on Malone Avenue in Sikeston.
An informative seminar for prospective adoptive parents will be presented by Celebrate Children International from 2 to 4 p.m. May 6 at La Croix Church. For more information, visit www.celebratechildren.org.
Taught by trained volunteer instructors, the AARP Driver Safety Program Class will be held from 12 to 4 p.m. May 4 and 5 at the Bank of Missouri Building at 3247 William St., near Wal-Mart in Cape Girardeau.
