Spring Fling pageant to be held Saturday
The Miss Spring Fling pageant will begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bernie Community Center in Bernie, Mo. First category is baby miss. A queen and two alternates will be chosen for all eight divisions. Proceeds will benefit Paige Thompson, who is competing in the Miss Missouri USA 2007 pageant. All alternates and queens will receive a discounted entry fee coupon for the Miss Stars and Stripes pageant hosted by Thompson this summer. The Scott City First Assembly of God is planning Mother's Day Out from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on three Saturdays: April 1, 8 and 15. Children will enjoy puppets, playtime and storytime. Refreshments and lunch served. This is a fund-raiser to send First Assembly of God Church children to camp.
The Cape Girardeau County Republican Women's Club will meet at 11:45 a.m. Friday, April 7 at Dexter Bar-B-Que in Cape Girardeau. Guest speakers include local candidates for elections in Cape Girardeau County. Members are invited to bring a guest and visitors are always welcome to attend.
The next Western Cherokee Council meeting will be at 10 a.m. April 8 at the Western Cherokee Cultural Complex on 10th Street in Salem, Mo. The meeting will break at noon for lunch; please bring a covered dish.
The 8th annual Bollinger County Women in Agriculture program will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. April 19 at the Marble Hill United Methodist Church on Highway 34. Admission is free. Program will probably wrap up around 3 p.m. Booths will be set up to display local products. Contact the office by April 12 and provide your own table. To register, call the Marble Hill USDA Service Center at (573) 238-2671, extension 3, or the Bollinger County Extension Office at (573) 238-2420 no later than April 14.
The Susanna Wesley Family Learning Center is sponsoring the Dogwood Azalea Festival Queen Contest April 20. Applications can be picked up at local schools or the Charleston Chamber of Commerce or by calling Marsha or Harriet at (573) 649-3731. The parade is April 22.
