Wine-tasting event needs replies before March 3
Individuals with multiple sclerosis and their friends are invited to a wine-tasting event from 1 to 3 p.m. March 25 at Blue Sky Winery in Makanda, Ill. The event is sponsored by the National MS Society Gateway Area Chapter. A wine consultant will lead the tasting and answer questions. Discounted registration before March 3; deadline is March 22. St. Joseph's Parish Center of Scott City will hold a euchre tournament March 4. A meal will be served at 6 p.m. with play to start at 7:30 p.m. Menu includes chicken noodle soup, chili, snacks and drinks. BYOB. There will be attendance prizes. The event is sponsored by St. Joseph Home and School.
Oak Ridge School kindergarten enrollment and screening for 3- and 4-year-olds is set for March 27 at First Baptist Church, Route E, Oak Ridge. Appointments are required and can be made by calling the school at (573) 266-3232. Eligible children must be present at the time of enrollment and must be 5 years old before Aug. 1 to attend school in the fall. Documents needed include immunization records, official birth certificate, Social Security card and proof of residency. All immunizations must be up to date before children can attend classes. If children receive immunizations after the enrollment date, their updated record must be presented on the first day of school.
Big Brothers Big Sisters will raise money at Bowl for Kids' Sake, to be held April 8 at West Park Lanes in Cape Girardeau and Main Street Lanes in Jackson. Bowlers will enjoy pizza and soda, two hours of bowling and a chance to win prizes.
