Driver Safety Volunteers Provide Community Service
Since its start in 1979, the AARP Driver Safety Program celebrated its nine millionth graduate in August. One does not have to be a member of AARP to enroll in a class. The program is the nation's first and most recognized course of its kind--an eight hour refresher course especially for motorists 50 and over. Consideration of the maturing driver's physical changes and ways to compensate for these changes are most important to provide the opportunity to improve as drivers. Through class discussion participants identify individual problem areas and apply that informaiton. Classes are generally offered about every two or three months. To learn of locations and dates in this area call Robert Harper at 243-2396. Individuals must attend two four-hour class sessions to receive certification for possible insurance discounts.
