Gohn family benefit will feature silent auction
A silent auction will be held from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 19 and from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Dec. 20 at Cape West 14 Cine to benefit the Gohn family, victims of a Nov. 26 house fire. Auction items include gift baskets contributed by churches, area businesses and the movie theatre. Items for donation and monetary gifts may be dropped off at Life Care Center, 2852 Independence. Emerson Bridge show airs on cable access channel
A partnership between MoDOT and Southeast Missouri State University has made a TV program about the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge construction and the highlights of the upcoming dedication available. Food donations used to supply local food pantries
Donations of food items are being sought by Feed-A-Family which helps Scott City, FISH and Red Star Baptist food pantries. A tractor trailer located in the parking lot between Wal-Mart and Sam's Club in Cape Girardeau is available for individuals wishing to donate food daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Saturday. In greatest need are canned beans, dry beans, pancake mix and boxed potatoes.
Christian singer will give performance Friday
Annette Herndon of Bethlehem, Ga., will be a guest on TCT Christian television at 10:30 a.m. Friday and then will be singing at 7 p.m. at Victory Outreach Christian Center, 1000 Big Bend Road.
Holiday cookie and candy walk planned at church
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- The Perryville United Methodist Church will hold a cookie and candy walk featuring choices of goodies to mix and match; cookies and candy will be sold by the pound. Santa Claus planning visit to Jackson open house
Tracy's Place is hosting an open house with Santa Claus from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday. The Jackson Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Jackson High School Future Business Leaders of America for this event.
