Basketball Points for Pizza on tap in Jackson

The Jackson Parks and Recreation department will sponsor a Basketball Points for Pizza event on Nov. 20 in the multipurpose building near Jackson High School. Registration for the Basketball Hotshot Contest starts at 9:30 a.m., with the contest beginning at 10 a.m. Registration is free for age divisions of 9 to 11, 12 to 14 and 15 to 17. Awards include Domino's pizza for first, second and third places. There will also be a half-court shoot off and more prizes will be provided by Main Street Lanes. Ste. Genevieve guild holding Christmas show

The Ste. Genevieve Art Guild's 2004 Christmas Show and Sale, held in conjunction with the town's annual Christmas Walk, will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 4 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 5 at the County Services Building, 255 Market St. The opening reception is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 3. Raffle tickets for the showpiece, an original watercolor of the Jean Baptiste Valle Garden by Juanita Rapp Wyman, can be purchased from any art guild member before or during the show. A silent auction of artwork donated by guild members will be held throughout the weekend. Receipts from the auction are designated for the Art Guild Scholarship Fund. Trinity Lutheran Church Junior Aid holding bazaar

The annual Ladies' Junior Aid Holiday Bazaar will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 4 at Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Room, 100 N. Frederick St., Cape Girardeau. A chicken and dumplings luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with carryouts available. The bazaar includes crafts, baked goods, homemade jellies and candies, costume jewelry, glassware and collectibles, books and white elephant items.

Christmas Home Tour planned in Charleston

The Mississippi County Historical Society will hold a Christmas Home Tour from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 5 in Charleston, Mo. The tour features the society's turn-of-the-century Moore Home at 403 N. Main St. and the homes of Randy and Jana Thompson at 410 E. Commercial St., John and Cindy Story at 1610 E. Marshall St. and Georgia Gremillion at 1307 E. Commercial St., all decorated for the holidays. Refreshments will be served at the Moore home. Tickets may be purchased at any of the four homes on the day of the tour or in advance from any board member. Proceeds from the tour will help maintain the Moore Home. River Heritage Museum elects 2005 officers

Cape River Heritage Museum 2005 membership drive is in full swing for the 2005 drive. Elected officers for 2005 include president Marjorie Thompson, vice president Terri Foley, secretary Margaret Ford and treasurer Dr. John Holcom. Two new board members are Carol Robert and Robyn Mainor.
