Civil War round table to talk about Shiloh

The Cape Girardeau County Chapter of the Civil War Round Table will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, in the fellowship room of Hanover Lutheran Church, 2949 Perryville Road, Cape Girar-deau. Model railroad sale planned in DuQuoin

The Southern Illinois Train Club will hold a model railroad show and sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds, on Highway 51 in DuQuoin, Ill. Over 50 vendors will be featured, as will operating layouts in HO-, G- and N-scale. For more information, call (618) 984-4474.

Regional baby contest scheduled for Dec. 3

Boys and girls up to 7 months, from 8 to 14 months, from 15 to 23 months, from 24 to 35 months, from 3 to 4 years old and from 5 to 6 years old may compete in the New Star Discovery Inc. regional Christmas baby contest held at 6:15 p.m. on Dec. 3 at the Best Western-Coach House Inn in Sikeston, Mo. Registration is at 5:30 p.m. Boys do not compete against girls in the age divisions. There are eight optional categories to enter for an additional fee. Bollinger Mill Historic Site hours changing for winter

The Bollinger Mill State Historic Site will operate under new hours this winter. The facilities will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday. The mill will be closed Sundays and Mondays. The new schedule goes into effect the first weekend in December and continues through the end of February. 'Winter Wonderland' sale on tap in Benton

From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 4 the fifth annual "Winter Wonderland of Treasures," sponsored by the St. Denis Home and School Association, will be held at the St. Denis Parish Center on Highway 61 in Benton, Mo. Individuals, businesses, churches and organizations are welcome to sell or promote their merchandise. Registration forms may be obtained by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: "Treasures" Sale, P. O. Box 503, Benton, Mo., 63736 or may be picked up at the school office. Youth group giving parents some free time

The Cape Church of God will hold a Parents Night/Day Out from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 3 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 4 at the church, 624 S. Ellis St., Cape Girardeau. The event is sponsored by the Cape Church of God Youth Group. For registration, call Becky Priest at 332-1311. Children ages 2 to 10 will be treated to snacks, lunch, music, puppets and games.

Artisans' selling pottery, jewelry, glass mosaics

The third annual Bonney Bank Artisans' Guild holiday gift sale offers a unique gifts for the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 4 and from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 5 at the historic site of the Bonney Bank in Pocahontas, Mo. Handmade gift items include pottery, jewelry, basketry, fiber arts, glass mosaics and handmade specialty soaps. To get to the bank, take Interstate 55 exit 105 (Fruitland exit) east to Highway 61; turn right onto Route C; after about two miles turn left onto County Road 530. Recipes requested to fill Scott County cookbook

The Scott County Women in Agriculture organization will again create a cookbook featuring favorite recipes from members of the community as a fund raiser. Proceeds will help fund projects sponsored by the organization, including a scholarship for a high school graduate, "Farm Day" for Scott County third grade students and community service. New features in the cookbook include basic, creative, extraordinary and old family recipes in memory of someone. Recipes are also needed for a variety of categories.
