Scott County Women in Agriculture to meet

The Scott County Women in Agriculture will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the USDA office on Highway 77 in Benton, Mo. Members should bring recipes for the second edition of the group's cookbook. Woodmen announce new youth club in area

A new Modern Woodmen of America Youth Service Club has plans for its first activity at 1 p.m. Sunday at the American Red Cross, 2430 Myra Drive in Cape Girardeau. Children 12 to 20 are invited to participate and find out about the benefits of membership. Sara Glueck will lead the club; Richard A. Phillips, a local Modern Woodmen representative, will sponsor the club's monthly activities.

Military mom seeking bright holiday for soldiers

Bonnie Kipper, mother of a Navy serviceman overseas, is spearheading efforts to send candy canes and calling cards to the 5,000 sailors serving aboard ships now in the Persian Gulf. Marine Corps League schedules annual ball

The Cpl. Mason O. Yarbrough Detachment of the Marine Corps League will hold its annual Marine Corps Birthday Ball at 5 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Plaza Convention Center. The 229th birthday celebration includes traditional ceremonies, dinner, birthday cake and dancing. Retired Col. Jack Jackson will be the guest speaker. The public is invited to attend. Nov. 14 program to focus on Cherokee tradition
