Boy Scout Troop 311 celebrating 50th year

Boy Scout Troop 311, sponsored by The Optimist Club of Jackson, is planning a 50th Anniversary celebration on Jan. 23. The troop is currently searching for all former scoutmasters, assistant scoutmasters, committee members and scouts from Troop 311 to complete its mailing list.

Anyone who has been a part of Troop 311 since 1953 should contact Billy Joe Thompson, Jr. at 604 N. Maryland, Jackson MO 63755, or call 243-4159.

Officer to be installed at Masonic Lodge

St. Marks No. 93 Masonic Lodge will install Brother Bill Wickham as Master for 2002-2003 at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Masonic Lodge on Broadway. All Masons and friends are invited. This is an open installation, so the public is also invited. Refreshments will follow.

Alpha Phi Omega to hold yard sale on Saturday

Alpha Phi Omega will be holding its third annual yard sale from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Schnucks parking lot. The national co-ed service fraternity on Southeast Missouri State University's campus is accepting donations of clothing, appliances, furniture and other miscellaneous items. To donate, call Jason Chierek, yard sale chairman, at 450-4137.

Proceeds from the yard sale will help pay for members to attend the fraternity's national convention in December at New Orleans. In the past, the organization has raised enough money to send five people to the national convention. This year, they are hoping to send 30 people, according to Chierek.

Show-Me Greyhounds hold Charleston gathering

CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Show-Me Greyhounds, an informational group that covers parts of Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee and Arkansas, will be holding a gathering for retired racing greyhound dogs and their families at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rolwing Park in Charleston.

The event is being held to unite retired greyhounds and their owners so they can support each other when needed, according to organizers. Pictures and calendars featuring greyhounds will be available. For more information, contact Marian Presson at (573) 683-3710.

Annual Grossheider reunion will be Sunday

The annual Grossheider reunion will be held at the Zion Lutheran Parish Hall on U.S. 25 south of Gordonvillle Sunday. A potluck dinner will be held at 12:30 p.m. Lemonade and coffee will be furnished. Bring your own table service and two food dishes.

Keller family reunion scheduled for Saturday

The Keller family reunion for descendants of John Jacob Keller will be held Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Parish Hall, located 1 1/2 miles south of Gordonville on U.S. 25. Families will begin gathering at 10:30 a.m. Activities begin at noon with a potluck luncheon. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish, photos and memorabilia. Drinks will be furnished.

Old Bollinger Countians to meet Monday at noon

The Old Bollinger Countians will meet at noon Monday at Ryan's Family Steak House. Organizers encourage those interested to meet with old friends and have some fun.

Kelly Booster Club will meet Monday

The Kelly Booster Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the band room at Kelly High School.
