Community Caring Council meets Friday
The regular monthly meeting of the Community Caring Council will be at 7:30 a.m. Friday at SADI, 121 S. Broadview, Suite 12. Guest speaker is Jim Watkins on disaster preparedness.
The Scott City Park Department will hold its annual Halloween parade at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God parking lot. The parade will begin on Dearborn, proceed down Main Street to Second Street where costume judging will take place in front of Roth Hardware. All floats and walkers are welcome. The Humane Society of Southeast Missouri will be having a mobile adoption from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Petco. Tickets for Santa Paws, a 50/50 drawing, will be for sale. Drawing date is Dec. 11. The winner of that drawing will receive 50 percent of the monies received. For further information, you may call the shelter at 334-5837.
The Cabela King Kat Tournament will be held at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Saturday at Red Star Landing in Cape Girardeau. The official weigh-in begins at 3 p.m. The weigh-in location has been moved from the Boardman pavilion in Hutson's Parking Lot to Red Star Landing, or the Old Honker's Boat Club parking lot, just off of North Main. The public is invited to the weigh-in, which will give spectators a chance to see catfish that have been caught in the Mississippi River at Saturday's tournament. This is a catch and release tournament, so all of the fish will be released back in to river after they have been weighed. The public should exercise extreme caution in and around Burlington Northern's railroad tracks near Red Star Landing. A public meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Nov. 3 at the Victorian Inn, located at 3265 William St., for anyone wishing to comment on the services they've received or are receiving from Rehabilitation Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired. This is the time that you will be able to have your voice heard, ask questions and express your concerns to the citizen's group which advises the agency regarding services for the blind and visually impaired.
