Ground broken for new St. Jude dream home
Prestige Enterprises has broken ground for this year's $275,000 raffle house to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The home is being built close to the intersection of Mount Auburn and Hopper roads in Cape Girardeau. A limited number of chances to win the St. Jude Dream Home and other prizes will go on sale for $100 each beginning March 1. The 12th annual Doctor/ Lawyer basketball game will be held at 8 p.m. March 4 at the Notre Dame Regional High School gym. The pregame tailgate party, which includes admission to the game, food and beverages, and a silent auction, which will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Davis Banquet Center, 3589 Highway 25, Jackson. Advance tickets are required for the tailgate party. There will be special halftime entertainment. Proceeds will benefit the Community Counseling Center Foundation and will be used to equip the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program Clubhouse that will be built this year next to the Community Counseling Center main office on Silver Springs Road. The Community Relations Council of Cape Girardeau is holding its third annual Awards of Distinction Breakfast from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Harrison Room at Southeast Missouri Hospital. Council members nominated seven recipients for this year's award: Tim Blattner, Dan Cotner, Meg Davis, George Foster, Thomas M. Meyer,Doug Richards and Jim Watkins.
