Winners named at area horse show

The Schuette Farms Fun Horse Show was held Aug. 7 in Jackson. Youth champions were Danielle Daume and horse Tanzy as grand champion and Nicholas Tyler with Cookie as reserve champion. Open champions were Morgan Williams and Star, grand champion; and Daume with Tanzy, reserve champion. Other winners included Tracey and Rachel Williams with Leo and JAnnabell, Hailey Reimann with Frisco, Susam Kemp with Paco, Emile Beard with Dasher, Jordan Combs with Rusty and Sharon Williams with Joyce.

Scott County historical group meets Tuesday

Tom Dirnberger, vice president of the Scott County Historical and Genealogy Society, will play host to the August meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in his office at the Scott County Courthouse in Benton, Mo. Instructions will be given on how to access information available in the Scott County recorder's office.

Psychologist to speak at Saturday seminar

William DeMeo, a development school psychologist from Cincinnati, Ohio, will present a seminar from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Educare in Cape Girardeau. The seminar deals with problems parents and childcare professionals may face. Presentations will include: Discipline with the Brain in Mind; Time OUT is OUT; Managing the Angry and Aggressive Child; and Working with the Challenging Child. Soccer parents holding back-to-school dance

Parents of the Classic United Soccer Club will hold and chaperone a dance from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Friday at the Jackson Jaycee Hall. Students in grades six to eight are welcome. Music will be provided by Lucas Beine-Swingtown Sounds.
