Jackson Area Arts Committee to meet
An informational meeting will be held at 7 p.m. today at Gallery 127, at 127 W. Main, Jackson. The agenda includes the scenic drive weekend, 2003 bandshell performance series and arts schedule, Starcatchers Theatre and the newsletter July 4th Art in the Park and fund raising.
Vision 2020 committee to meet Wednesday
Also known as the Riverfront Team, the Vision 2020 Transportation Committee will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce office. Genealogy society to meet next week
The Cape Girardeau County Genealogy Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. March 25 at Riverside Regional Library in Jackson. The program, "Top 10 Tips for Getting the Most Out of Internet Genealogy," will be presented by Bill Eddleman, vice president of the board of directors.
The Cape Girardeau County Genealogy Society is an organization of some 200 people which meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month. Nonmembers are welcome at all meetings. For more information, call Dorothy Rowley at 243-5882.
Scott City schedules Easter egg hunt for April
The Scott City Park's annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 10 a.m. April 12 in the community park. Age is limited to children ages 8 and under. In case of rain, the event will be held under the Horseshoe Pavilion. For more information, call the park office at 264-3411.
Scott City historical society to visit museum
The regular monthly meeting of the Scott County Historical and Genealogical Society will not be held Tuesday. Instead, on Saturday members will take a field trip to the Stars & Stripes Museum in Bloomfield, Mo. Society members are to meet at the museum at 10 a.m. to tour the Lewis and Clark Expedition exhibit, with a short meeting afterward.
The Scott County Historical and Genealogical Society meets at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Riverside Regional Library in Benton, Mo.
Washington University holding powwow
Sponsored by the Kathryn M. Buder Center, the Law School and the American Indian Student Association, a 13th annual powwow will be held Saturday in the Field House on the Washington University campus in St. Louis. Jackson beautification committee meets Friday
The Beautification Committee will meet at 8 a.m. Friday in the Jackson Chamber of Commerce conference room.
Family fund raiser will offer music, door prizes
A fund raiser will be held to benefit the Koehler family after their loss from 7 to 11 p.m. March 21 at the Jackson Skate Center, Highway 72 West.

Jackson Rotary to hold Hoopfest 2003
Hoopfest will be held at 9 a.m. March 29 at the Jackson High School gym. Hoopfest, an annual fund raiser, helps the Jackson Rotary Club raise money to foster the club's aim to promote humanitarian interests and positive international relationships.
The 3-on-3 basketball tournament is open to males and females ages 10 and up. There are six male and female age divisions. Registration deadline is Saturday.

Free tax assistance available from agency
East Missouri Action Agency is offering free tax preparation assistance for low-income and elderly citizens. The agency is at 1111 Linden St., Cape Girardeau (next to Cape Girardeau County Health Department). Those interested can make an appointment any time between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday to Friday. Parents group schedules events this week
Parents Without Partners will have a booth on display at the Home Show beginning at 10 a.m. Friday until 5 p.m. Sunday. The show is open to the public.
