Upcoming activities at the Cape library

Children ages 3 to 7 are invited to the Cape Girardeau Public Library at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to find out what makes the lion so majestic as participants share stories, play games and make a lion wall hanging.

Southeast Missouri Hospital is the library's Literacy Partner for February. Throughout the month, the library will distribute hospital bookmarks and display entries from its Heart Smart Poster Contest.

In addition, first- and second-graders are invited to a special program presented by hospital staff called "Growing Heart Healthy" at 1 p.m. Thursday in the library's Hirsch Community Room.

"A monthly literacy partnership is a great promotional tool for a business, in addition to the financial support it gives to the Cape Girardeau Public Library and the services we offer," said library director Betty Martin.

Any business interested in becoming a Monthly Literacy Partner may call Martin at 334-5279.
