Commission awards contract for I-55, I-57 concrete repairs

SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission has awarded a contract for improvements to Interstate 55 and Interstate 57 in Cape Girardeau, Mississippi, Perry, Ste. Genevieve and Scott counties. The $125,000 contract was awarded to Fronabarger Concreters Inc. of Oak Ridge. The project includes on-call concrete pavement repairs on I-55 from Highway 32 in Ste. Genevieve County to U.S. 60 in Scott County, as well as on I-57 in Mississippi County. The contract will be in place from summer 2011 to summer 2012, and repairs will be made as needed. As work is underway, lane reductions will be necessary. Overnight closures are possible. Work zones will be marked with signs as the improvements are being made. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution near the work zones and plan for possible delays. MoDOT will alert drivers prior to any change in traffic.
