COMMERCE, Mo. -- Events at the two-day Commerce Floodfest to be held Sept. 23 to 24 will include a lawn-mower race, car show, karaoke contest, dinner, pageant and cake walk.
Prizes will be awarded to the people of Commerce for the most in one family and for traveling the farthest.
Saturday events begin with car show registration from 9 to 11 a.m. with awards at 3 p.m. Call 264-2187 for information.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., ongoing musical entertainment will be provided by Classy Chassy Country, in addition to food, yard sales, games and hula hoop contests.
Chicken and dumplings will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church; remote control car races will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; at 2 p.m. the Better Community Club will sponsor a cake walk; at 4 p.m. a beauty pageant for ages 0 to 12 begins.
The celebration continues from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday with musical entertainment, family awards, a 1:30 p.m. lawn mover race at High's RV Park (call 264-3900 for more information); a 2 p.m. surprise walk sponsored by the Better Community Club; a 3 p.m. karaoke contest for 4 to 12 year olds; a 3:30 p.m. contest for ages 13 to 18; a 4 p.m. contest for 19 and over.
