Children's center prepares for charity walk

SIKESON, Mo. — Supporters of Kenny Rogers Children's Center will participate in the center's 35th annual charity walk Saturday. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. at First Assembly Recreational Complex on North Ingram Road (across from Bootheel Golf Club). The walk begins at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided at First Assembly Recreational Complex, the final destination. Fundraising prizes will be awarded.

Church features chili varieties and more

Second Missionary Baptist Church will hold chili day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 835 Beaudean Lane in Cape Girardeau. Hot, mild and superhot chili; chili and cheese; hot dogs; and homemade corn bread are on the menu. A car wash and bake sale are part of the event.

Morely fall festival set for this weekend

MORELY, Mo. — Morley's 36th annual fall festival includes Praise Bash '08 starting at 6 p.m. Thursday and scheduled events Friday and Saturday. Grounds open at 5 p.m. Friday with all food, crafts, game booths and pageants starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday events include an 8 a.m. 5K walk/run; a 10 a.m. parade followed by a dedication to the military at 11:30; an 11:30 tractor show; noon auction; a 2 p.m. mule jump; a 3 p.m. talent show; and 6:30 p.m. pageants.
