College Republicans and Young Democrats on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University will debate the issues of the presidency Thursday night beginning at 8 in Academic Hall. College Republicans and Young Democrats on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University will debate the issues of the presidency Thursday night beginning at 8 in Academic Hall.

The one-hour program is free, and open to the public.

A modified college debate format will be used, with student speeches on five issues of the presidency: economy, foreign policy, social issues, education, and environment.

After the program, the winner will be declared by three faculty members who will serve as judges. Student debaters will then answer questions from the audience.

Nathan Cooper of the College Republicans said 10 students will be actively involved in the debate. "Plus, many more have been working diligently to gather information and create the speeches," he said.

The program is sponsored by the Hall Council of Towers West.
