One winner will take home this beautiful quilt from the annual Crafts, Gifts & Collectibles Show at the Bavarian Halle on Nov. 17-19.

Show hours are Friday 5-8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The $1 admission to Friday and Saturday includes a ticket in the drawing for the quilt. Admission is free on Sunday, but additional tickets will be available for purchase.

The quilt was made by the Friedheim Trinity Lutheran Church Ladies Aid. Members of the group include Wilma Ruppel, Iona Zoellner, Trula Mouser Clara Zoellner, Bernitta Kranawetter and Diane Burger.

The quilters agree this is a dying craft, because of the enormous amount of time involved. It takes about 125 hours just to do the quilting. That much or more is also needed for the initial cutting, piecing, then the finishing of the quilts.

The group is currently completing another quilt for the church's youth group to raffle to help raise funds for a trip to New Orleans in 2001.

Family-priced concessions will feature homeade chili and vegetable soup, polish sausage and hot dogs.

Featured crafter this year is Mary Thompson of rural Jackson. She will provide information and samples on chair caning. Variations will include hand caning, press caning, slit weaving, fiber rush and cattail rush. Demonstrations will take place throughout the show. Estimates can also be made to refurbish family heirlooms.
