BOWLING GREEN, Mo. (AP) -- The coach who led the Bowling Green boys basketball team to a berth in the state Class 3 semifinals was among those who resigned this week over fallout from events that occurred while the team was in Columbia for the state championships last month.

The northeast Missouri school district announced Monday that four faculty members had resigned, and a fifth was suspended, but did not release their names until Thursday. Superintendent Frank Berlin declined to say what prompted the resignations and suspensions other than it involved "supervision of students," and did not involve sexual misconduct.

Trevor Hibbs led the Bobcats to a 24-5 record and fourth place in Class 3. Hibbs' teams were 159-109 during his six years in Bowling Green and won the past four district championships. He also coached baseball and taught physical education.

Two cheerleading sponsors resigned, including Annette Fisher, principal of Bowling Green Elementary School and a 16-year employee of the district; and Title I teacher Shari Niemeyer.

The fourth resignation came from Jonathan Mack, a grade school PE teacher and an assistant football coach. Another assistant football coach, Ryan Lowe, who also teaches physical education, received a five-day suspension without pay.
