CNN special correspondent Soledad O'Brien will speak about "Diversity: On TV, Behind the Scenes, and In Our Lives" at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16 in the Show Me Center. Southeast Missouri State University is sponsoring the free program, which is open to the public.
O'Brien is an anchor for CNN: Special Investigations Unit, where she recently reported about what its like to be black in America.
From 2003 to 2007, she was co-anchor of CNN's flagship "American Morning," and before that she worked for NBC News. During her career, she has covered Hurricane Katrina, the tsunami in Thailand, London's terrorism attacks, school shootings in Colorado and Oregon, the contested presidential election in 2004, and the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.
