Nine members of the John Guild Chapter, NSDAR attended the Southeast District Meeting held Aug. 24 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. They are from left: Marla Moore, historian; Pamela Johnson, parliamentarian; Cheryl Cook, treasurer; Beth Biri, regent; Marti Strickland; Linda Hutson; Morgan Lake, registrar and corresponding secretary general; and Lorilee Short. The meeting was conducted by Southeast District Director Ann Palsgrove. All Chapters in the District reported and those earning certificates, received them at that time.
Five members of the Cape Girardeau County FCE attended the 82nd Annual Conference of the Missouri Association of Family and Community Education held Aug 27 through 29 at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City. The theme of the conference was "Find joy in the journey." Those attending were Barbara Barks, Betty Dellinger, JoAnn Hahs, Mary Klaproth, MAFCE vice president, and Judy Strickland, MAFCE treasurer.
During the business meeting, Dana Harris of Fulton, Missouri, was elected president with her term to begin in 2019.
Programs were presented on opioids by Dr. Scott Kirkely; hunger in our midst by William McKelvey with the University of Missouri; telling your story by John Fuller, University Extension Human Environment Specialist; and the international program was presented by Daniel Elliott, a missionary for the past six years in South Korea.
