New Salem United Methodist Women met Aug. 6 in the church fellowship hall. Shirley Grebe, president, called the meeting to order with nine members repeating the UMW Purpose.

Members will attend the Sept. 2 meeting and luncheon at New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson.

The nominating committee reported the new slate of officers for next year to be voted on at the next meeting Sept. 3: president, Joyce Brewer; vice president, Verla Mangels; secretary, Karen McLain; treasurer, Betty Hahs; and reporter, Margie Roberts.

The program "Calling to Growth" was presented by Roberta Allen.

Mangels showed how to make a scarf out of a T-shirt.
