Lamplighters FCE

The Lamplighters FCE Club met in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church in Oak Ridge for its July meeting. During this time, members not only had their regular monthly meeting, but they had an Autism weighted item make it/take it day. Dorothy Hahs, hostess for the meeting, provided the devotional thoughts for the meeting as well as the food for the luncheon.

As the 11 members arrived, they found a work station. They either stripped fabric for weight in the blankets, weighed the stripped fabric or rice, sewed the fabric together to make either a blanket, lap pad, shoulder snake or rice bags, or they stuffed the blankets and filled the rice bags. At the end of the day 10 blankets, two lap pads and a shoulder snake had been made. Two blankets, a lap pads and a shoulder snake were stuffed and taken by members to be given to help someone affected by an Autism Spectrum disorder.

During the business session of the meeting, it was reported that the county's June Autism weighted item work day produced 18 blankets, six lap pads, and 15 shoulder snakes. A $25 donation was sent to TouchPoint Autism Center in Cape Girardeau.

Members were reminded of the dates and events that would be happening at the state meeting to be held Sept. 18 through 20 in Jefferson City, Mo.

Jo Ann Hahs asked for pictures showing the club's activities from the past year. These will be used to make Cape Girardeau County's tri-fold for the state meeting.

It was announced that the club would be participating in the Garage Sale at the Osage Center in Cape Girardeau on August 24.

"Happy Birthday" was sung to Dorothy Hahs. Bev Meyer won the hostess gift.
