Town and Country FCE members held their annual picnic July 9 at Pizza Inn in Fruitland.

Sue Jones and Lois Seabaugh were in charge of arrangements. Linda Thompson, president, conducted the business meeting.

Darlene McCain, secretary, read three notes of appreciation from Cottonwood Treatment Center for the end of school party, Salvation Army for the donation of two box fans, and Parkview State School for treats that were provided for residents. Thompson thanked all members who assisted with these projects. Mary Klaproth gave the treasurer's report. It was approved as written.

Members were reminded to turn in money for July Trivia Calendars at the August meeting. Members brought various items to be donated to the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau as bingo prizes.

A back-to-school party for Cottonwood Treatment Center residents is planned in August. Members will be notified of the delivery date by the president.

Seabaugh read an invitation from the Women's Safe House in Cape Girardeau inviting members to a volunteer banquet July 17 at Ray's Banquet Center.

The next meeting will be the club's international dinner with authentic food dishes from Argentina. A committee consisting of Thompson, Jones and Klaproth met and selected authentic recipes for the dinner that were given out to club members to prepare a dish for the meal. The dinner will be held at the home of Thompson at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14. Rep. Donna Lichtenegger, who has traveled to Argentina, will be guest speaker.

Club Out will be held Thursday at Jackson Homecomers. Members are to meet on the courthouse lawn at 6:30 p.m.

John Guild Chapter, NSDAR

John Guild Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution announced that Morgan Lake was installed as Missouri State Regent, DAR June 29 at Constitutional Hall, National Headquarters during Continental Congress in Washington, D.C.

Lake is the first member of John Guild Chapter to rise to the rank of state regent in the chapter's 100-year existence.
